What can’t be treated through an urgent care telehealth appointment?
Virtual urgent care is great for quick, everyday health concerns. Some conditions, though, need in-person care. Things that can’t be handled by telehealth include:
- Emergency symptoms like chest pain, trouble breathing, severe bleeding, or signs of a stroke
- Serious physical injuries that need hands-on treatment or stitches
- Conditions that require in-person testing or a physical exam a provider can’t do over video
- Physical procedures such as stitches or draining an abscess
- Anything requiring controlled substances, which can’t be prescribed via telehealth
